What are our hours of operation? 

The SDCC hours vary based on the day of the week and time of year. For the most up-to-date hours, please visit our hours of operation page.  

Please note the Cultural Center is closed on all major holidays. When holidays fall on a Monday, the Center is closed that Tuesday. Special hours apply during the 5-week summer program. Public access is limited during this time. 

Is there an entry fee to enter the Cultural Center? 

No. 

Do I need to wear a mask while visiting the museum? 

No. Masks are encouraged while inside the building but are not required. 

Are food and drinks allowed in the Cultural Center? 

Food and drinks are permitted in the lobby, hallways, and select rooms in the building. Staff will notify you of restricted areas. Bottled water in a resealable container is permitted. 

Do you have vending machines?  

No, we do not. 

Is photography allowed? 

Photography is generally allowed in all areas unless otherwise noted. 

Is there parking? Is it free? 

Free on-site parking is available. 

Do you have Wi-Fi?  

Of course! Connect to DalSurfNo Password is needed. 

Do you have an ATM?  

No, we do not.

Can I get a tour of the Cultural Center? 

Yes, if a staff member is available, we welcome the opportunity to give tours of the cultural center. We recommend scheduling a tour by contacting us at SDCCinfo@dallas.gov

How do I find out about the Cultural Center events and programs? 

Please visit our Programs and Events pages or Art & Seek for a list of ongoing and future programs and events. 

Is there a fee for the Cultural Center programs? 

Many of our programs are free. In certain cases, there may be a charge. Please review our Programs page for details. 

What is the cost of renting space at the Cultural Center? 

Please visit our Proposals & Venue Rentals page to review the pricing list.

Are tables and chairs included in my rental? 

Yes, upon request. There are a limited number of chairs and tables so please be clear of your needs in your request. 

What Audio/Visual equipment is available? 

A/V equipment and capabilities vary by room, from microphones and speakers to projection. The cultural center has a limited amount of A/V items, please contact us to discuss your needs. 

Does the Cultural Center have vendor relationships with catering services and other vendors that must be used? 

No, we have an open-vendor policy.   

Can I provide my own alcohol? 

Yes, alcohol is allowed at events. It must be served by a person with a TABC License. 

How do I propose my artwork for an exhibition? 

The South Dallas Cultural Center encourages submissions from individuals, institutions, and collectors. To submit a proposal, please send an email inquiry with a brief description of your work or collection to John Spriggins. If the artwork fits within the gallery’s mission and current needs, we will request that you complete our form submission. Exhibition proposals call is ongoing and accepted year-round.

Can the Cultural Center appraise, authenticate, or identify the artwork of Arthello Beck? 

South Dallas Cultural Center does not appraise, authenticate, or identify artworks of Arthello Beck.  

Can SDCC share my program/event in your newsletter or social platforms? 

To have your program or event shared on our newsletter and social media platforms, please submit a request on our Social Media Request Form. 

How do I share my SDCC images and experiences on social media? 

There are numerous opportunities to share your time at SDCC events, programs, and exhibitions through social media. Please tag and follow us on Facebook and Instagram @southdallasculturecenter and use our hashtag #SouthDallasCulturalCenter #BlackCultureCelebrated. For our virtual community, join us on our YouTube page for fun at-home art projects, artist talks, and more! 

Can I volunteer at the Cultural Center? 

Currently, we do not have a volunteer program, but we welcome visitors interested in managing our front desk during business hours and programs/events and provide tours of the facilities.
